What’s In A Name?

HARMONY can be defined as the principle of unity and variety in design, which contributes to the cohesiveness of the interior design plan or theme. For me, starting a window covering business named “Harmony” also signified a new commitment to harmony and balance in my own life. I’ve grouped my talents, interests and energy into a business I truly enjoy: helping you personalize your home with the right window coverings at the right price!


Wayne Gray – Founder, President, Consultant

Wayne Gray founded Harmony Blinds and Shutters in 2004. Prior to that, Wayne had spent most of his adult life in Texas managing commercial photo supply stores. Asked how he made the leap between photo supplies and window coverings, Wayne cites a childhood interest in home design and architecture and the desire to build a business for himself. He also mentions the enjoyment he gets working directly with consumers – something he had lost as a manager. In all of his career history, Wayne developed a reputation for top-notch customer service.

Why San Diego? The “bug” was planted during Wayne’s childhood. He grew up in Utah and his Orem High School band played here for a music educator’s convention. The detour through Texas is a long story, but the film-based commercial photo supply business was playing-out. Wayne saw that as an opportunity for a new beginning!

Besides decades of real-life business management and customer service experience, Wayne holds a BS degree in Business Management from Le Tourneau University.

Eldann Chandler – Consultant

Eldann ChandlerEldann began working for Harmony in the fall of ’06 as part-time sales support. As the company grew, he decided it would be more interesting to take-on a consultant role. We predicted it would be a natural fit for his outgoing personality, his independence and his customer service experience. There’s no turning back now! He really enjoys helping create beauty and comfort in our customer’s homes.

Eldann is a Californian from Los Angeles. Between LA and San Diego he spent four years in New Orleans getting his BA in Anthropology and a couple of years working in Miami.


Cesar Chet – Consultant

Cesar Chet joined the Harmony office staff in July of 2014 after a working in IT asset management and billing positions. Besides office tasks he also volunteered to help our install teams when needed. Bright and ambitious, it soon became obvious that Cesar was ready for more opportunity and challenges. In early 2016 he was promoted to “consultant.” His experience with the logistics of the business and his product knowledge from installations assisted in a smooth transition, as did his quickness assimilating new information. What has made him successful since the transition has a lot to do with his affable personality and his dedication to great customer service! Cesar is a San Diego native and a graduate of San Diego High School and lives in North Park with his wife and two children.


Support Staff (Brian Lorio & Frank DeLuca)

Brian was hired in January 2016 as his predecessor, Cesar, transitioned to consultant. He’s a little quiet, but his even temperament and quick smile are a welcome and calming influence in our busy office. Before Harmony Brian was working on his Sociology degree at CSU Sacramento, where he helped support himself with front desk and customer service roles and In-home tutoring.

Frank has been with Harmony since 2013 as our Office Manager. Mr DeLuca is responsible for all office and warehouse functions but is particularly focused on monitoring shipments and scheduling customer installations. Frank’s attention to detail and his concern for our customers’ satisfaction are a large part of Harmony’s ability to maintain our stellar service reputation. Frank is from New England as you can soon tell from talking to him. Don’t bring up New England sports or rock-and-roll if you’re in a hurry!


Installers (Alex Cortes, Brian Gray and Ish Escobar)

Harmony’s three installers have combined experience of over 24 years in window coverings service and installation. Alex joined Harmony in 2016 after having his own independent installation business in Colorado. He appreciates leaving the Colorado cold and returning to his California roots. Brian is lead installer and has been with the company since 2005. Brian is also Wayne’s (president) brother and co-owner of the company. Brian’s work with his hands extends beyond his start with Harmony to running handyman crews for a Salt Lake City non-profit. Brian promotes attention to detail and clean work habits with the team.

Ish has several years’ experience with Harmony and 3 years’ prior experience in the industry. Responsible, friendly and competent are words to describe Ish. In his spare time Ish grows and sells coral for salt water aquariums. With most of our competitors using contract services we’re pleased to control our own timetables and the quality of service with our own dedicated installer team!


We care!

Harmony has been giving back to the community with annual contributions to North Park’s Jefferson Elementary since the 2014-2015 school year. Jefferson’s dedicated and caring staff serves mostly lower income families. Our first year our contribution was used to buy stools for the school’s new STEAM lab. In 2015-2016 school year we helped sponsor the STEAM Lego club. STEAM education is STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) plus “A” for the arts. Adding “Arts” is a recognition that success in technical fields requires creative critical thinking skills which are best developed through exposure to the arts.

THE OLD GLOBE  Gold Level Contributor

The Old Globe has been home to the most acclaimed national artists, designers, directors, and playwrights in the theatre industry. More than 20 productions produced at The Old Globe have gone on to play Broadway and Off Broadway, garnering 13 Tony Awards and numerous nominations. In 1984 the Globe was the recipient of the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre for its contribution to the development of the art form. These awards bring world attention not only to The Old Globe but also to San Diego’s rich cultural landscape.
