Window Shadings and Privacy Sheers

Window Shadings
Popularized by Hunter Douglas as “Silhouettes,” window shadings combine the function of a horizontal blind with the softness of fabric. Soft fabric horizontal vanes are suspended between two panels of sheer fabric. With the vanes open, they provide a filtered outdoor view, daytime privacy and substantial UV protection. Closed vanes afford privacy. Vanes are available in semi-opaque or opaque fabrics for the desired amount of light control. When the blind is raised, it disappears into a color-coordinated or fabric covered headrail for an unobstructed view.
Privacy and Light Control: Private (closed vanes). Available with opaque or semi-opaque fabric vanes. Light bleed between vanes and around edges.
Energy Efficiency: 2-3
Cost: $$$-$$$$

Vertical Privacy Sheers
Available from Hunter Douglas as Luminette Privacy Sheers or Park Lane Privacy Sheers (and in competing brands), these products offer a sheer drapery look with integrated adjustable vertical vanes for light control (eliminates the need for an “overdrape”). With the vanes open the sheer fabric provides a filtered outdoor view, daytime privacy and substantial UV protection. Closed vanes provide privacy and are available in semi-opaque or opaque materials for the desired amount of light control.

Privacy and Light Control: Private. Available with opaque or semi-opaque fabric vanes. Light bleed between vanes and around edges.
Energy Efficiency: 2-3
