Floral Motifs in Designer Home Window Shades
Designer Fabrics with a Floral Motif
Several modern artists contribute their creative skills to the Design Studio™ suite of products from Hunter Douglas. Select fabrics from collections by New York designer Rebecca Atwood and the talented Marcie Bronkar have designer prints with floral motifs perfect for home window shades.
Rebecca Atwood
Known for the organic flow of her hand-stamped prints, Rebecca Atwood’s design techniques complement natural floral motifs. For her 8-print collection for the Hunter Douglas Design Studio™ suite of products, Atwood drew from natural inspiration then modernized the motif with color play and pattern work.
- Floral Stamp: Made using a potato printing process, the pattern on Atwood’s Floral Stamp fabric has beautifully imperfect texture and color that gives the overall design depth and interest. The organic stamping process also gives the fabric a natural flow in line with modern floral print styles that work well as neutral backdrops for home window shades.
- Tree of Life: Inspired by the luscious beauty of fruit trees in Portugal, Tree of Life by Atwood plays on an international arboreal theme with timeless elements updated with modern, freehand line work. Depending on color choice, Tree of Life can make a dynamic backdrop or striking focal point in room décor.
Marcie Bronkar
Known for taking historical prints and modernizing them with a painter’s eye, Marcie Bronkar makes traditional floral designs feel contemporary but timeless. Her 7-print collection includes two embroideries and styles prints with an underlying floral motif for home window shades.
- Amaryllis: With a floral design stamped into a linear pattern, Bronkar’s Amaryllis creates a delicate feel under strong lines that pairs well with furniture and décor with clean, hard lines.
- Grand Fleur: One of Bronkar’s two embroidered fabrics for home window shades, Grand Fleur was inspired by 17th-century Venetian vestment and shawls for a modern style with classic roots.
- Menagerie: Menagerie is Bronkar’s contemporary rendition of a classic English Jacobean pattern for home window shades with organic linework and an eye-catching balance of strong colors and soft floral patterns.
- Lily: Playful watercolor lines and pencil art paint a free-flowing floral design in Lily. The soft lines and natural movement of the pattern across the fabric evoke the peacefulness of a lily floating on a pond.
